Yes, it is strange to have a leather / mens' bar in the basement of a neighborhood lesbian bar. Welcome to Pittsburgh. Yes, it can get smoky, and it's probably not as clean as your basement. Deal with it. There is no dance floor or DJ, and the videos might offend sensitive viewers. We like it that way.
As leather bars go, it is fairly laid back, but if you wear pastel colors and cologne, we will look at you funny.

I've been going to Donnys place since it was the norreh. Anyone remember that? Well it has been all redone and I am pleased to say it is "the place " to go . They have something for everyone. Upstairs is all redone with a rocking d.j. on weekends. Basement is a mens leather bar. If you are into that have a ball . The main floor has two pool table and a great kitchen. The staff are wonderful. A lot of hard work has been put into updating this place and it shows. I am so glad Weezie and Donny have joined forces to put this place back on the map where it belongs.It has had its bad times but now it is time to come and have fun!!!! I love this place

went to the newly redone donnies and weezies and i have to say from prior expieriences there i was quit impressed it was finally clean and the staff was very nice and patrons all looked like they were having fun i met weezie and she was polite and curtious so i have to say kudos to a job well done i look foward to my many visits there

possibly the worst leather bar i have ever attended. If you are not into 2nd hand smoke in the x-treme, in the presence of small-town "leathermen" possessing attitude far beyond their mien, by all means avoid this place like the plague. Its like having your dopey dyke sister come down every few minutes while you are trying to have sex. The fact that this place even survives speaks volumes about pittsburgh. Avoid at all costs. I like dumps. This has no reason to exist. At All.

I was reading other reviews and they said "sleazy" or "dirty" or that it needed to be "updated" but though these all may be true...it's always a great time. I think the outdated decor and the "dirtiness" gives it that special hometown bar feel. Yes, I've been to clubs in other cities and yes it's true..they are more updated and "clean" but those are for the yuppies. Donny's has a great atmostphere and great patrons...always a nice and friendly crowd!

Main floor is mostly lesbian and they don't seem to like the men hanging upstairs. The staff is friendly. Downstairs is a "leather" bar for men. There is often handsome men there, but scary. There is often frolicing going on in the dark passages. It's dirty and sleazy and dark and a good place to go on a late lonely night. Sexy barman with a smile

Recently moved to Pittsburgh and stubled into this as my first bar experience in the city. Since I was raised with manners I smiled and was polite to anyone I made eye contact with. Needless to say either the patrons did not grow up with the same social ethics or their jockey shorts were bunching up. Feeling as unwelcome as could be made I put my beer down and went elsewhere. So if you're a guy you may not be made to feel welcome. If you look like Drew Carey with breasts than pull up a stool!

If you're a woman, this is pretty much the only lesbian bar in the Burgh. Its dark. Its dirty. But it usually is a great time (unless its a night for lesbian drama!) Big FREE parking lot, two pool tables, a leather bar downstairs for the guys, and 2 floors basically overrun by the women. The upstairs dancefloor gets JAMMED and the music is usually HOT... but so is the upstairs in the summer cause I don't think that place has air conditioning! So be prepared to sweat! The staff is wonderful! Fast, friendly so you're not waiting thru your favorite song for a drink. The crowd is mostly younger tho there are a few of us older lesbians around who appreciate today's music and dance.

Donny's is an OK place to go, since it is really the only place a lesbian can go in the city. The patrons are great and the ownership and employees are great, however it desparately needs some updating and remodeling. I started going to Donny's 30 years ago and very little has changed over that time. When you go to other big cities and see their bars, you are almost embarrassed by the entire Pittsburgh bar scene. I have been to Baltimore, D.C., NYC, Nashville, Phoenix, and Columbus. They all have wonderful bars and restaraunts. Very clean, modern and fun. Donny's has always been fun, but it is time to dress it up!

I frequent Donny's basically every Saturday when im home from school in the summer! It is by far the best lesbian bar in Pittsburgh, and one of the best I have been to. I would recommend it to anyone looking to have a good time! Great crowd!
