Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon at CMU

Prior knowledge of how to edit and create Wikipedia articles is not required! Take part in this free edit-a-thon featuring introductory tutorials for the beginner Wikipedian, reference materials, and refreshments. Our specific focus will be adding and enhancing articles on women and female-identified artists working at the intersection of art + technology (though no one will be discouraged from researching women working in other art-related fields). People of all gender identities and expressions, particularly transgender, cisgender, and gender nonconforming women, are invited to participate. Please ask your fellow attendees for their pronouns of choice! + BYOLaptop and ideas for Wikipedia entries that need to be added or updated. Or feel free to add to the Wikipedia Meetup page if you already know how. + If you aren’t interested in making articles, come collaborate on the research end. [ABOUT Art+Feminism] Art+Feminism is a rhizomatic campaign dedicated to introducing more women in the arts into Wikipedia, and to empower women to edit the internet’s largest encyclopedia. Wikipedia’s gender trouble is well-documented. Wikimedia’s 2013 study The Wikipedia Gender Gap Revisited revealed that 84% of Wikipedia’s editors were male.
