Introducing a new series from Arts Out Loud called The Lotus that gives you the power to tell your own personal story to members of the LGBT and allies community — your community. This isn’t a lecture or a TED talk or even a Slam. There won’t be scripts, notes, or Powerpoint slides. It’s just you, a mic, an audience, and your life experience.
Do You Want To Tell Your Story? Selected storytellers will share their stories. No notes. No slides. No net. It will be intimate and personal. You will learn things about your friends and neighbors that will amuse you, move you, and perhaps even inspire you.
It’s a brave and vulnerable thing for someone to stand on a stage in a roomful of strangers and lay themselves out there for others to witness. You won’t want to miss this unique forum.
So, what’s your story?
Some of us find opportunity in life’s inevitable road blocks, while others find frustration. Some of us move through life without knowing exactly why we’re here, or what we want to do. Since our choices are not always straightforward, they often have a profound personal story behind them. What were the struggles and sacrifices that led to a significant decision in your life? How did failure lead to success – or vice versa? What have you learned? What do you still need to learn?
