Don't Bother
It's nice to have a place that's made for an all lesbian crowd, but everytime I go there I have to wait for at least 10 minutes to get service at the bar and the place is basically an abandoned buidling with a boombox for music. Not my idea of a nice bar/club.
A different flavor from other bars
Cattivo is a neighborhood-type bar, most nights it is relatively empty. But Wednesday and Saturday, it is packed full of lesbians of all ages and flavors. In my opinion, it's a welcome break from the gay-male-dominated polished and pretentious bars we have so many of here in the Burgh. Donny's, the "other lesbian bar," is choked with young drama-centric lezzies with some sort of obsession with cocked baseball caps. True, the crowd at Cattivo is a little older, but some of us *want* that. Staff are friendly and drinks are reasonably priced. Food is great "bar food" and the pizza is awesome.
SO SO
Its not that its a bad club. I guess if you are from the area, and perhaps thirty years old then this club would be great! There are nice people there. No Lie. But there was something missing from the club. It may have been the music. It may have been the people. But it was something that had "Ellen DeGeneres" intro. dance written all over it. If you can find a more modern club.. then do so.
Great Place!
Don't be misled by a discriminating gay man. Cattivo is great bar. Get to know the owners. They are really nice people. A place like this has been long awaited. I have been patronizing since they opened in May. The lesbians have always been there & they don't bother anyone. Everyone has a great time, male & female. The last time I looked, a business is created to make money. From what I hear, they were a very successful straight bar. Try the food!!!!!
Way To USE The Gay Community..
This bar is a failed straight bar in Pittsburgh. It was also closed as a nusance bar before it reopened it's doors trying to lure in the gay male. The gays refused to call it home so it in an attempt to make money from the gay dollar opened it's doors to lesbians. The bar is owned by straights and is located on a tucked away street in Lawrencville. I'd rather hang out at the bars on Liberty Ave.. They are ALL new and much more of a mixed crowd.
