Real Luck Café (Lucky's Bar)

(46 Ratings)
Unpretentious dive with a casual crowd

Drink, eat pizza, and listen to the jukebox downstairs. Upstairs offers an 80s vibe with disco music and go-go boys! It should be noted that this bar allows smoking inside and there are lots of folks who light up.

Get Lucky at Lucky's :)

Lucky's (AKA the Real Luck Cafe) is a neighborhood gay bar and cafe with two floors and a back deck. Note that you need to enter through the back door (of the bar, that is!) off the deck. Upstairs is another bar with hot nude dancer boys (from 10 pm 'til 1 am) and a smallish dance floor. I was there on Sat. 7/18/09. The patrons were mostly guys, and there were quite a few cute ones. Drinks were cheap, and there was no cover charge. Downstairs there were only a few guys, despite it being a Saturday, but upstairs it was pretty crowded around the bar, with only a few people on the dance floor. A word of warning though: Don't touch the dancer boys or you may get thrown out!

Poor Service

I am a waiter and have been for 10 years and I have never been to a place where the employees are so rude. The doorman/bartender Kevin (I believe) checked my ID with a fine tooth comb, pulling me off to the side in a stern, unfriendly way. I understand the importance of checking ID's but I didn't know you had to act like a stern police officer, and the fact he is unattractive makes it all the worse. The dancers look to be on crack/cocaine and act as if they are better than everyone when, in fact, that is far from ther case.. Hate this place

Very friendly bar

We were visiting Pittsburgh from out of town. We went to Lucky's after leaving one of the other bars. Local patrons were very friendly and engaging. We were introduced to people and invited to play darts. Had a very positive experience. Found the upstairs bar to be fun. The building is older and a bit of a dive, but that adds to its charm.

Where Everybody Knows Your Name....

I've always thought of Lucky's as a "Gay Cheers" because most of the people that come here- everyone really does know their names! Lucky's is the kind of bar that you can return to and has a friendlier-than-usual staff. I have seen many times where the staff have went out of their way to serve their patrons- unlike many gay bars in Pittsburgh. Anyone who gives Lucky's a thumbs down needs to stop by more than just one nite. I agree to some it may seem on the darker side but the place does grow on you. You never know who you will run into and it has a diverse crowd. I've been going to Lucky's since '99 and still drop by a few times a month, and I'm not a barfly... One thing I can say about this place: You can sit down beside a stranger and have a decent conversation and they don't act all stuck up like in many gay bars. Come as you are-- that's all the Lucky's crowd asks of anyone =)))
