It Will Be Missed
Once the only dance club/bar in the area for 30 years it was the premier hot spot in Pittsburgh. It's premier downtown location closed on the end of 2009 and relocated in the eagle lounge on the north side of city. So good luck.... :-/
Thank God
This place was and is as bad as Vice Versa. If you are over 25, then you were treated as an outcast. But now moving into the Eagle is a bad move. Now theres gonna be huge drama with the young tramps from Pegs at the Eagle
Next Door Magazine's Favorite Pittsburgh Spot
Best place to go dance and drink in Pittsburgh. A good combination of cute college boys, fun music, hot drag queens, and flavorful cocktails. Every time we frequent Pittsburgh, we go to Pegasus. Best for all the college set and those wanting to cavort with cute boys.
CONFUSION
I do not understand why GayCities has reviews here of two different Pegasus locations. The Pegasus on the North Side is NOT what many of these older reviews are about. If the location has moved, and the Liberty Ave location is officially closed, then the reviews should be of the new location only. You will confuse people with reviews of two different locations.
Review based on memory, possibly not relevant now.
Pegasus used to be located downtown. Now apparently it shares space with The Eagle. (Check out my review of The Eagle.) I went to Pegasus several times when it was downtown. I would say the positives outweighed the negatives, but my experience IS limited. One thing I have to give it credit for is that it provided a place for the 18 through 20 crowd to come to dance & socialize. I don't know if this is still true at its new location, which, as I said in my other review, is a bitch to find, even with good directions. If Pegasus has moved into the same building as The Eagle, I sort of doubt the same crowd would be there for myriad reasons. Also, I would think being in the same place as The Eagle makes it sort of redundant. Pittsburgh could really use another but considerably larger, up-to-date, 21st century Pegasus in a location that's easy for everyone to find with adequate parking and/or EZ access to public transportation. They should also consider playing the music at a level that doesn't end up giving you permanent damage to your hearing. It doesn't have to be that loud to enjoy it. It really doesn't. I'm not a native. I'm from southern California and lived several years in San Francisco. Pittsburgh's come a long way, but it still has plenty of room to grow.
